Dr. Nefario Frozen In Carbonite
This easter egg can be seen in all versions of the movie.
Description
During the scene where Gru explains to his Minions that they won’t be going back to villainy he states that he, “knows it’s been a little tough lately, especially with Dr. Nefario accidentally freezing himself in carbonite…” as we see a group of 3 minions working to free Dr. Nefario from his frozen prison.
This imagery with Dr. Nefario frozen in a block with the front of his body visible and his hands pushed forward is an almost exact replica of what happened in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back where Han Solo gets frozen in a carbonite block by Darth Vader and is then displayed as a trophy in Jabba the Hutt’s palace.
